Scaling New Heights: ‘One More Mountain’ Triumphs with 2024 Wilbur Award

In a prestigious recognition of storytelling that navigates complex religious themes within secular media, Mansur Nurdel’s book One More Mountain has been honored with the 2024 Wilbur Award. The Religion Communicators Council (RCC) bestowed this distinction, highlighting the exceptional quality of Nurdel’s work amidst a competitive field.

The Wilbur Award, established in 1949 and named after Marvin C. Wilbur, a pioneer in religious public relations, serves as the pinnacle of achievement for secular communicators who expertly engage with religious topics. Each recipient, including Nurdel, was awarded a unique hand-crafted stained-glass Wilbur trophy during the RCC’s 95th annual convention held at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, KY. This award not only celebrates Nurdel’s brilliant narrative but also underscores his contribution to fostering a deeper understanding of faith and religion through secular lenses.
